Thanks to rootsweb, I was able to discover that my Mom and Dad are indeed related. My Dad is a 4th cousin once removed of my Mom, meaning that my grandfather was actually her 4th cousin. This relation is due to my grandfather's mother being a Whitaker, and my Mom had Whitaker's in her background, too. The Stapler's, Ikard's, Vann's, and Whitaker's who lived in New Hope, Alabama often intermarried with one another.
